Cloudera Data Visualization 8.0.0 was released on January 31, 2025 introducing the following changes.
New features and improvements
- VIZ-2730, VIZ-2987, VIZ-3016, VIZ-3053, VIZ-3061, VIZ-3087 – AI visual now Generally Available
-
You can ask questions about your data using voice or text and receive query results, filtering, and additional context directly in the dashboard. It now features streaming support for faster responses, targeted parameter passing, and built-in support for more AI model sources. For more information, see AI visual.
- VIZ-902, VIZ-2378, VIZ-3009, VIZ-3010, VIZ-3096, VIZ-3104, VIZ-3105, VIZ-3110 – New data connections in Technical Preview
-
Cloudera Data Visualization now includes Trino and Phoenix data connections in Technical Preview. You can upload data, run queries, and visualize results using these new integrations. For more information, see Connecting to a data source in Cloudera Data Visualization.
- VIZ-2198, VIZ-2263, VIZ-3043, VIZ-3062, VIZ-3074 – Email job improvements
-
Email jobs have been improved for greater stability during high-latency periods. A new error message now appears in the Send Email modal when the attachment row limit exceeds the application’s allowed threshold. Additionally, CSV/Excel downloads have been improved for better reliability.

-
Filters have been improved with faster search, optimized queries, and a more intuitive interface.
- VIZ-2921 – User-dependent cache for impersonation
-
A new user-dependent cache setting is now available in the Data Connection modal when impersonation is enabled. If activated, it appends the username of the logged in-user to the cache, ensuring that different results are displayed per user based on Ranger policies. For more information, see Enabling impersonation and user dependent-cache for a data connection.
- VIZ-2984 – Cloudera Data Visualization runtime deprecation in Cloudera Data Science Workbench
-
With the release of Cloudera Data Visualization 8.0.0, the Cloudera Data Visualization application runtime is no longer supported in Cloudera Data Science Workbench. Applications using a Cloudera Data Visualization 8.0.0 runtime will fail to launch in Cloudera Data Science Workbench. Attempting to upgrade an existing Cloudera Data Visualization application running in any Cloudera Data Science Workbench version to the 8.0.0 version of Cloudera Data Visualization may lead to database connection issues, data integrity problems, or unexpected behavior in Cloudera Data Visualization features.
