What's new in Cloudera Data Visualization 8.0.2

Cloudera Data Visualization 8.0.2 was released on March 28, 2025 introducing the following changes.

New features and improvements

VIZ-2312, VIZ-2938, VIZ-3238 – Annotations [Technical Preview]

Annotations can be added for visuals and dashboards, helping you to clarify data details, highlight outlier values, or provide additional context. For more information, see Creating annotations for visuals and Creating annotations for dashboards.

VIZ-2830 – Aggregation in AI Visual

You can now configure aggregate columns as context for AI Visuals to summarize data for similar records. This allows AI Visuals to better answer questions related to quantities, distributions, and comparisons. For more information, see Shelves for AI visual.

VIZ-3167 – Speech Detection now Generally Available

When the Speech Detection feature is enabled in Cloudera Data Visualization Site Settings, you can enter spoken input in AI Visual and Natural Language Search inputs using the microphone icon.

VIZ-2922 – Persistent virtual warehouse selection for Impala and Hive connections

Virtual warehouse values are now retained when editing Cloudera Data Warehouse Impala or Hive connections. Previously, settings were saved with no memory of the virtual warehouse it came from, making it harder to track the original selection. Now, the selected warehouse is stored in the database, improving connection management. For more information, see Editing basic data connection details.

VIZ-3106 – Data profiling support for Trino and Phoenix data connections [both Technical Preview]

Added data profiling support for Trino and Phoenix data connections, allowing you to analyze data characteristics and gain deeper insights.

VIZ-3140 – Refresh button for visual URLs

A new Refresh button has been added next to the visual URL on the job detail page (in email details). This button allows you to update the URL to reflect the current application location, which is useful if the domain or application name has changed, as these URLs do not update automatically.

VIZ-2861 – Enhanced job debugging with detailed snapshot logs

Snapshot Logs tab has been added to the Run Details modal, providing additional job log details for debugging. The Download button allows you to export all run details in JSON format, which can be used for debugging or shared with others. For more information, see Job runs.

VIZ-2845, VIZ-3148 – Enhanced security for secret settings

Secret settings values are now encrypted and masked immediately after being saved. This enhancement extends encryption to various user-inputted settings in Cloudera Data Visualization, for example authentication credentials for Mapbox, Jira, and Google Maps.

VIZ-3128 – Improved performance for API key page

The API key page has been rewritten for improved performance.

Fixed issues

VIZ-3103

Default user groups are no longer removed when SAML and VIZ groups sync on login. Users now retain their previous group associations, roles, permissions, and query history across sessions.

VIZ-3142, VIZ-3143, VIZ-3165, VIZ-3208

Fixed critical and high-severity package vulnerability issues identified in Cloudera Data Visualization 8.0.1.

VIZ-3157

The issue where switching at dataset’s data connection did not persist has been resolved. The selected data connection now persists after saving the dataset changes.

VIZ-3192

Improved performance when loading a dashboard with a large number of visuals that contain filters.

VIZ-3198

Resolved an issue where opening an application in a new tab in Cloudera Data Visualization, when embedded in Cloudera AI, could result in the page being blocked or failing to load properly.
